For Chinanza Nwoke, the LMI Fellowship is part of a continuing journey of leadership, service and learning that now extends beyond Nigeria.
An LMI Fellow, Chinanza currently serves as a Volunteer Lecturer under the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, Freetown, where she contributes to the academic and personal development of young people through teaching, mentorship and service.
Working with the English Unit in the Department of Language Studies, she teaches Advanced Communication Skills, Research Methods, Literary Theory and Foundation Studies. Beyond the classroom, she coaches students for inter-departmental essay and debate competitions, helping them build confidence, strengthen their public speaking skills and communicate their ideas effectively.
Chinanza also serves as Team Leader for NTAC volunteers in Sierra Leone, taking on an additional leadership role while contributing to the work of Nigerian volunteers there. Her experience reflects values central to the LMI Fellowship: leadership, service, learning and a commitment to empowering others. Through her work in Sierra Leone, Chinanza is sharing her skills, contributing to capacity building and creating opportunities for young people, while also learning from a new environment and building meaningful connections across borders.
Her journey is a reminder that the impact of an LMI Fellow can extend far beyond the Fellowship itself. From Nigeria to Sierra Leone, Chinanza continues to demonstrate how leadership can be expressed through service, education and a commitment to developing others.
